MANILA, Philippines- Tinabla ni Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro nitong Miyerkules ang ceasefire sa Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) at armed wing nitong New People’s Army (NPA), matapos ianunsyo ng organisasyon na hindi ito magdedeklara ng holiday truce ngayong taon.
“Any ceasefire with the CPP-NPA-NDF is a ceasefire against terrorists and criminals,” pahayag ni Teodoro.
“It is a last-ditch measure of a Jurassic group to find relevance in the national political ecosystem,” dagdag niya.
Noong Martes, sinabi ng CPP-NPA na hindi ito magdedeklara ng holiday truce sa pamahalaan ngayong taon sa gitna ng umano’y patuloy na pag-atake ng state forces, na sinabi ng grupong nakatatapak sa political at civil rights maging sa international humanitarian law.
“In anticipation of the holidays and the upcoming 56th anniversary of the Communist Party of the Philippines, units of the NPA and local peasant mass organizations in the countryside are busy preparing meetings and small assemblies in order to celebrate past victories, take stock of weaknesses and strengths, and reaffirm their resolve to wage greater struggles in the coming year,” pahayag nito.
Kasado ang 56th anniversary ng CPP sa December 26.
Samantala, pinabulaanan ng CPP ang pahayag ng pamaalaan na ang New People’s Army ay mayroon na lamang isang “weakened” guerrilla front, na tinawag itong “disinformation.” RNT/SA
