MANILA, Philippines- Idineklara si Atty. Chel Diokno ng Akbayan partylist bilang first nominee nito para sa Eleksyon 2025.
“It is an honor to represent Akbayan and push for its principles and buckle down on protecting the welfare of the Filipino people, upholding our democracy and holding the corrupt accountable,” pahayag ni Diokno nitong Sabado.
Nauna nang ikinonsidera si Diokno bilang senatorial candidate ng Akabayan, ang political party ni Senate minority leader Risa Hontiveros.
“From the beginning, we carefully examined all possible avenues to best serve our people. After thorough reflection, we determined that running under the partylist system is not only a principled choice but also the most pragmatic path to effectively confront the forces of corruption and injustice,” paliwanag ni Diokno.
Subalit, binigyang-diin ni Diokno na ipagpapatuloy niya at ng Akbayan ang suporta sa opposition senatorial candidates na sina dating Senators Kiko Pangilinan at Bam Aquino.
“Akbayan remains steadfast in backing Senators Bam Aquino and Kiko Pangilinan. We fully support Senator Risa Hontiveros’ two Senate candidates, and as we campaign for them, we will also work to secure at least three seats for the party,” sabi ni Diokno.
Samantala, si current Representative Perci Cendaña ang magiging ikalawang nominee ng Akbayan. Si Cendaña ay dating Commissioner for Luzon ng National Youth Commission. RNT/SA
