MANILA, Philippines- Tinalakay ang mga hamon sa seguridad, kabilang ang South China issue, sa courtesy call ni Swedish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs Jan Knutsson sa Department of National Defense (DND).
Inihayag ng DND nitong Huwebes na nakipagpulong si Undersecretary Irineo Espino kay Knutsson nitong January 26 at tinalakay ang climate change, Ukraine war, cross-strait tensions, at thang e South China Sea issue.
“Both sides looked forward to developing a long-term bilateral cooperation, underscoring the importance of upholding the rules-based international order and strengthening security ties between like-minded countries,” anang DND.
Sa nasabing pulong, inilatag ni Knutsson ang cost-effective material ng Sweded, partikular ang aircraft nito, sa pagpapakilala niya ng strong defense industry ng kanilang bansa laban sa mga banta.
Inihayag ni Espino ang interes ng DND na makipagtulungan sa Sweden pagdating sa technology transfer maging sa research and development, upang protektahan ang soberanya ng Pilipinas.
Kinilala rin ng dalawang bansa na kailangang tugunan ang cybersecurity threats.
“In relation to defense capability development, the Philippine and Swedish sides also discussed the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding concerning Cooperation in the Acquisition of Defense Materiel, updates on the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Program and funding requirements, and the Philippine procurement law,” anang DND.
