MANILA, Philippines – Ipinahayag ni Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson nitong Martes na ipapatawag ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee si nagbitiw na Ako Bicol Rep. Elizaldy Co at iimbitahan si dating Speaker Martin Romualdez sa susunod na pagdinig kaugnay ng alegasyong korapsyon sa flood control projects.
“For the next hearing, we will send an invitation letter to his address. Now we know he is abroad and will not show up. If that is the case, we will issue a subpoena, and then a show-cause order. We are not covering up for anyone here,” ani Lacson sa NET25, sabay giit na maaari nang ma-cite in contempt at maaresto si Co kung hindi siya tutugon.
Para kay Romualdez, ang imbitasyon ay idadaan kay House Speaker Faustino Dy III bilang paggalang sa inter-parliamentary courtesy.
Tiniyak ni Lacson ang pagiging patas ng imbestigasyon: “If we stop the probe now, we may reinforce the perception rightly or wrongly that we are covering up for someone. No. I said it clearly, we will go where the evidence leads us.”
Binanggit din niya ang pagbabago sa Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), kung saan pinalitan ni dating PNP chief Rodolfo Azurin si Baguio Mayor Benjamin Magalong bilang adviser.
Bagama’t nanghihinayang sa pagbibitiw ni Magalong, sinabi ni Lacson na makakatulong si Azurin dahil sa kanyang integridad at karanasan. RNT
