MANILA, Philippines – Nanawagan si Bayan Muna Partylist Chairperson Neri Colmenares sa administrasyong Marcos na pahintuin ang pagpapatupad ng monetary fines sa mga sasakyan na may invalid radio frequency identification (RFID) devices o insufficient load balance.
Ayon kay Colmenares, sa halip ay dapat pagtuunan ng pamahalaan ang pagbibigay ng accessible transportation.
“We demand the Marcos administration reconsider and scrap this oppressive policy. The focus should be on providing affordable and accessible solutions, not on imposing punitive fines,” ipinunto niya.
“The government should focus on ensuring equitable access to transportation and not penalize those who are yet to adapt to RFID technology due to financial constraints,” dagdag ni Colmenares.
Samantala, naniniwala ang dating Bayan Muna representative na ang naturang hakbang ay “anti-people and further burdens motorists who are already struggling with the rising costs of transportation.”
Samantala, sinabi ni Senador Grace Poe nitong Huwebes, Agosto 22, na dapat sumailalim sa test of reliability ang mga RFID kasunod ng mga reklamo mula sa motorista na hindi mabasa ang kanilang RFID sticker sa mga tollways.
Ani Poe, ito ang unang dapat gawin bago magpataw ng monetary fines sa mga motorista. RNT/JGC
