MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni dating Senador Leila de Lima sa Korte Suprema na hindi siya nakatanggap ng anumang pera para sa kanyang senatorial campaign mula sa isang abogado na kamakailan ay dinisbar ng SC.
Nitong Miyerkules kasi ay dinisbar ng Korte Suprema ang abogadong si Demosthenes Tecson sa pagtatago ng natitirang awarded compensation ng kanyang mga kliyente bilang attorney’s fees, at ang umano’y kontribusyon nito sa campaign kitty ni De Lima.
“I categorically state that this claim is utterly false and has no basis in fact. I have had no dealings, financial or otherwise, with Mr. Tecson, nor have I ever authorized or received any such contributions from him. I do not even know him,” sinabi ni De Lima sa liham nito sa SC nitong Biyernes, Pebrero 21.
Hiniling din nito sa SC ang “public clarification” na ang naturang pahayag ay hindi totoo.
“I take grave exception to being wrongfully implicated in the Supreme Court Spokesperson’s press release on a case that has nothing to do with me,” ani De Lima.
“It is profoundly unjust for my name to be dragged into the misconduct of a lawyer who has been stripped of his professional standing precisely because of his ethical violations,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/JGC
