MANILA, Philippines – Ipinagpaliban ng House appropriations panel ang budget deliberation ng proposed P4.46 bilyon na 2025 budget ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).
Ito ay inilipat sa Setyembre 9, 2024, kasabay ng paghihintay sa kumpirmasyon ng appointment ni Secretary Hans Cacdac.
Sinabi ni Stella Quimbo, senior vice chairperson ng House appropriations committee at mambabatas mula Marikina, sa panel na humiling umano si Cacdac na i-excuse ito sa deliberasyon dahil sa pagharap niya sa Commission on Appointments (CA) nitong umaga.
Ang CA, na binubuo ng mga miyembro ng Kamara at Senado, ay may kapangyarihan na magkumpirma, tumanggap o mag-reject ng presidential appointees.
Ayon kay Cagayan de Oro lawmaker Rufus Rodriguez, ang physical presence ni Cacdac sa budget hearing ay “essential in explaining the thrust and programs of the DMW.”
“Therefore, I move to defer the [budget] hearing to September 9 at 11 a.m.,” sinabi ni Rodriguez sa kanyang mosyon.
Wala namang tumutol sa mosyon ni Rodriguez na ipagpaliban ang deliberasyon ng Kamara sa badyet ng DMW. RNT/JGC
