MANILA, Philippines- Inaprubahan ng Senado ang itinuturing na sustainable and resilient 2025 budget ng Department of Education (DepEd) na may konsiderasyon sa “intergenerational fairness,” ayon kay Senador Pia Cayetano na nagdepensa sa PHP793.74 billion panukalang gastusin ng ahensya kasama ang attached agencies ito.
Sa ginanap na plenary deliberation nitong Huwebes, kinilala ni Cayetano ang suporta ni Senador Grace Poe, chairman ng Senate committee on finance, ang lahat ng kanyang amendments na kabilang ang pagtataas ng allowance ng guro, paglalaan ng pondo sa literacy programs, textbooks, instructional materials, at school electrification.
“Mr. President, in the past years during the budget season, we have always tried to be sustainable but also resilient to future challenges, all well considering intergenerational fairness. This is the idea that the needs of the present generation should be met without compromising the needs of the future generations,” ayon kay Cayeteno sa kanyang sponsorship speech.
“I extend our gratitude to our Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Senator Poe, for granting some of the committee’s proposals,” giit niya.
Sinusuportahan ng inaprubahang badyet ang five points agenda ng DepEd sa pamumuno ni Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara na sumasakop sa kaaya-ayang kapaligiran sa pagkatuto, episyenteng paghahatid ng pagtuturo, pagpapaunlad ng kasanayan ng titser, employable students at pagpapataas ng achievement levels.
Ilang programa ng nakatanggap ng mas mataas na pondo kabilang ang Basic Education Facilities, Basic Education Curriculum, Early Language Literacy and Numeracy, Physical Fitness and School Sports, at implementasyon sa pagbibigay ng cash allowance, hardship pay, at reclassification of positions.
“Our goal remains the same: To ensure that the needs of the current and future generations are met, ensuring intergenerational fairness,” ayon kay Cayetano.
