DepEd may 47K vacancies

MANILA, Philippines – Mayroong mahigit 40,000 vacant positions ang Department of Education (DepEd), kabilang ang mga bagong likhang teaching at school-based nonteaching positions.

Ipinag-utos ni Education Secretary Juan Edgardo Angara sa lahat ng DepEd offices na punan ang mga bakante na tila isang malaking pagsubok para sa ahensya.

Sa Aug. 5 memorandum, inatasan ni Angara ang lahat ng bureau at service directors, regional directors at schools division superintendents na “exhaust all measures to expedite” sa hiring.

Kasalukuyang mayroong 46,703 vacancies ang DepEd, o 4.53 percent ng 1,030,897 total authorized positions.

“The remaining vacant items pose a challenge to the operations of offices and to the absorptive capacity of DepEd. Further, these challenges affect the approval of subsequent proposals for the creation of items from the DBM (Department of Budget and Management),” saad pa sa DepEd Memorandum No. 42.

Ayon kay Angara, ang lahat ng DepEd field offices ay dapat na gumawa ng “catch-up plan” para mahigpit na mamonitor ang hiring.

Ang plano ay dapat na ipasa sa Bureau of Human Resource and Organizational Development-Personnel Division ng DepEd bago ang Agosto 9.

Noong Mayo, inaprubahan ng DBM ang paglikha ng 5,000 nonteaching posts para sa DepEd na tutulong sa mga guro sa kanilang administrative tasks alinsunod sa utos ni dating Education Secretary at Vice President Sara Duterte. RNT/JGC
