MANILA, Philippines – Iginiit ng Department of National Defense (DND) at Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) na tututukan ng militar ang territorial defense ngayong 2025.
Sa New Year’s Call sa Camp Aguinaldo sa Quezon City noong Biyernes, Enero 3, hinimok ni Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. ang DND at AFP na manatiling alerto sa pagprotekta sa national sovereignty at paninindigan sa humanitarian values.
Iginiit niya na ang defense establishment ay “must not allow the Philippines to be subjected to any distortions in narratives or momentum.”
“Every life is precious, and ‘no one left behind’ is our commitment—not only to our people but also to our international commitments,” ani Teodoro.
Nagpasalamat ang kalihim sa foreign partners ng Pilipinas sa kanilang suporta para igiit ang soberanya at sovereign rights ng Pilipinas sa ilalim ng international law.
Samantala, inilatag ni AFP Chief of Staff General Romeo Brawner Jr. ang mga prayorida ng militar ngayong taon kabilang ang modernization ng armed forces, pagpapaunlad sa defense capabilities, at pagtatayo ng malakas na presensya sa strategic areas ng bansa.
“We will enhance our naval, aerial, ground, air defense, and cyber capabilities to protect our resources and ensure the security of our waters, always adhering to international law,” ani Brawner.
Ang tradisyunan na New Year’s Call ay dinaluhan ng defense and military officials, foreign military attaches, enlisted personnel, at civilian staff. RNT/JGC
