VATICAN – Hinimok ni Pope Leo nitong Linggo ang agarang ceasefire sa Middle East, tinawag ang kamatayan at pagdurusa mula sa digmaan bilang “scandal to humanity.”
Sa ika-apat na linggo ng US-Israeli war laban sa Iran, sinabi ng Santo Papa na patuloy niyang sinusubaybayan ang sitwasyon “with dismay,” lalo na sa mga rehiyong apektado ng digmaan at karahasan.
“We cannot remain silent in the face of the suffering of so many people, the defenseless victims of these conflicts. What hurts them hurts the whole of humanity,” sabi niya sa Angelus prayer sa St. Peter’s Square.
“I strongly renew my appeal for us to persevere in prayer, so that hostilities may cease and the way may finally be paved for peace,” dagdag ni Pope Leo. RNT/MND
