MANILA, Philippines – Nagkasundo ang Department of Justice (DOJ) at Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) para palakasin pa ang paglilitis sa mga kasong may kaugnayan sa kalikasan.
Lumagda sa memorandum of agreement (MOA) sina Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla at DENR Secretary Toni Yulo-Loyzaga para maisapormal ang pagtutulungan ng dalawang kagawaran upang masiguro na malakas ang ebidensya laban sa mga suspek sa mga environmental cases.
Naniniwala ang DOJ na ang mga krimen gaya ng illegal logging, illegal mining at wildlife trafficking ay patungo na rin sa krimen na money laundering.
“Criminal networks plunder our forests, exploit our marine resources, and drive endangered species to extinction—not just for profit, but to fund larger illicit operations. Stopping environmental crime is also stopping financial crime.”
Sinabi naman ni Remulla na mahalaga ang nilagdaan na MOA dahil sa long-term impact nito.
