MANILA, Philippines – Makikipagtulungan ang Philippine Association of Law Schools (PALS) sa Department of Justice para mapalawak pa ang avcess ng mga pinoy sa libreng serbisyong ligal.
Lumagda sa memorandum of agreement ang DOJ at PALS para magkaroon ng access sa free legal services ang mga mahihirap o mga hindi makakuha mg serbisyo ng Public Attorneys Office.
Ang naturang kasunduan ay pinirmahan nina DOJ Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla at PALS President at San Sebastian College of Law Dean Teodoro Pastrana.
Salig sa kasunduan, ang DOJ Action Center (DOJAC) ang mag indorso sa mga law schools na may legal aid clinics ng mga kliyente na hindi nakapasa bilang indigents o nadiskwalipika para makuha ang serbisyo ng Public Attorneys Office.
“This momentous occasion is testament to the unwavering efforts of Bagong Pilipinas political slogan that no Filipino shall be left behind as the country moves forward to progress. With this initiative, we unconditionally open the doors of justice for the welfare of more Filipinos, regardless of their social status,” ani Remulla.
Ayon kay Remulla, kung hindi rin matatangap ng PALS ang iendorso nilang kliyente, ipapasa nila ito sa Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) o sa ibang abugado na nagkakaloob ng libreng legal service.
Samantala, nagkasundo rin ang dalawang partido na gagawa ng mga hakbang para mabawasan ang siksikan sa mga kulungan sa pamamagitan ng paglalaan ng legal service sa mga persons deprived of liberty (PDL). TERESA TAVARES
