Manila, Philippines – Aabot sa 14,158 Filipino nursing graduates ang sumailalim sa U.S. licensure exam mula Enero hanggang Hunyo 2024.
Iniulat ni Quezon City Rep. Marvin Rillo, Vice Chair ng House committee on higher and technical education na may kabuuang 14,158 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) graduates mula sa Pilipinas ang kumuha ng U.S. licensure examination ngayong 202 para makakuha ng trabaho sa Amerika.
“The numbers clearly indicate that many Philippine-educated nurses are very eager to practice their profession in America, where their skills will get the highest rewards in terms of compensation income,” ayon kay Rillo.
Aniya, tinatayang 57 porciento sa mga BSN graduates mula sa Pilipinas ang nakapasa sa U.S. licensure test sa unang pagtatangka pa lamang.
Tinukoy din ni Rillo na sa datus ay napaulat na sa loob ng 12 buwan ng 2023 ay nasa 36,410 nursing graduates mula sa Pilipinas ang sumailalim at nakapasa sa U.S. licensure test.
Ayon pa rin sa mambabatas, sa nakalap niyang impormasyon mula sa U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics na tinatayang $86,070 (o mahigit sa P5 milyon) ang karaniwang sahod ng registered nurses sa Amerika.
Isinulong ni Rillo ang HOuse Bill 5276 kung saan nakapaloob dito ang panukalang gawing P63,997 kada buwan ang entry-level pay ng public nurses mula sa kasalukuyang P36,619 bawat buwan.
“We are in a race against time. We have to invest more money now to retain here at home at least some of our fresh nursing graduates. Right now, a large number of nursing items in public hospitals throughout the country remain vacant and unfilled,” giit ng mambabatas. Meliza maluntag
