MANILA, Philippines- Pinakilos na ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang binuong team para umasisti sa deportation ni dating Negros Oriental representative Arnolfo “Arnie” Teves Jr., pabalik ng Pilipinas.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng DOJ na ang team ay kinabibilangan ng mga kinatawan mula sa Justice Department, Bureau of Immigration at National Bureau of Investigation.
Tiniyak ng DOJ na ipagkakaloob kay Teves ang due process sa pagbalik nito sa bansa.
“As we await the arrival of Mr. Teves, the Philippine Government assures the public and the international community that due process will be strictly observed, and that justice will be pursued without fear or favor,” ayon sa DOJ.
Una nang inanunsyo ng gobyerno ng Timor-Leste na ipade-deport na si Teves dahil sa kawalan nito ng valid visa at legal authorization para manatili sa Timor-Leste.
Ayon sa DOJ, sakop ng desisyon sa administrative deportation ang 10-year ban na makapasok muli sa sa Timor-Leste.
Sinabi ng legal counsel ni Teves na si Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, nakaalis na ng bansa si Teves pabalik ng Pilipinas.
Sinabi ni Topacio na nagpadala na ang kanyang
law office ng mga kinatawan sa DOJ, BI at NBI para makakuha ng impormasyon sa oras at lugar kung saan lalapag ang eroplanong lulan si Teves.
“It is hoped that the heads of these agencies will have some sense of legal obligation, if not of common decency, left to provide us that information which we, as Mr. Teves’ lawyers, have the right to receive,” dagdag ni Topacio. Teresa Tavares
