MANILA, Philippines- Handa ang gobyerno sa sandaling itapon pabalik ng bansa si dating Negros Oriental congressman Arnolfo A. Teves Jr. matapos maaresto sa Timor-Leste.
Sinabi ng Department of Justice (DOJ) na anumang oras ay maaari nilang asikasuhin ang transfer of custody sa sandaling maging malinawn na ang lahat ng usapin patungkol sa pagkakaaresto kay Teves.
“While we welcome the recent pronouncements from Timor-Leste indicating a renewed position that Mr. Teves should not remain in their territory, we await their action — whether he would simply be deported for being an undocumented foreigner or extradited forthwith pursuant to our pending application,” anito.
Gayunman, nilinaw ng DOJ na hanggang sa kasalukuyan ay hindi pa nabibigyan ang Philippine government ng anumang legal o official document kaugnay sa dahilan ng pag-aresto sa dating kongresista.
Magugunitang ibinasura kamakailan ng Timor-Leste Court of Appeals ang extradition request ng Pilipinas kay Teves.
“We continue to work closely with the appropriate authorities in Timor-Leste and to act the moment a formal process is initiated,” pahayag ng DOJ.
Bukod sa pagkansela ng Department of Foreign Affairs sa pasaporte ni Teves, itinuturing rin itong isang terorista ng
Anti-Terrorism Council (ATC).
Nahaharap si Teves sa mga kasong pagpatay kay
