MANILA, Philippines- Umabot ang international visitors sa Pilipinas sa 1.2-million mark sa unang buwan ng 2024, ayon sa Department of Tourism (DOT).
Kumpara sa parehong period noong nakaraang taon, umakyat ang arrivals ng 22.89 percent, dagdag ng DOT.
Inanunsyo ito ni Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco nitong March 5, at sinabing ito ay “robust indication of the future of Philippine tourism.”
“I would like to express my profound gratitude first to all our Philippine sellers who continue to champion Philippine tourism. As of today, the Philippines has received over 1.2 million international visitors: a robust indication of the future of Philippine tourism. Cheers to all the reasons to celebrate and Love the Philippines,” pahayag ni Frasco sa Internationale Tourismus-Börse (ITB) 2024 Convention sa Berlin, Germany.
Nauna nang inanunsyo ng DOT na target nito ang 7.7 million international visitors ngayong 2024.
Iprinisenta ng DOT nitong Huwebes ang breakdown ng 1.2 million international visitors:
Foreign tourist arrivals (1,160,129 o 94.9 percent)
Overseas Filipinos (67,686 o 5.51 percent)
“This is 22.86 percent higher than the 999,390 arrivals received by the country in the same period in 2023,” wika ng DOT.
Batay pa sa datos, inilahad ng DOT na nananatili ang South Korea na “top source market” ng bansa para sa mga bisita. Sa unang dalawang buwan ng 2024, nakapagtala ang Pilipinas ng 349,956 bisita mula sa South Korea.
Sinundan ito ng United States of America (195,603); China (85,876); Japan (73,159); at Canada (50,555).
