MANILA, Philippines – Nakapagtayo na ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ng 981 storage facilities sa buong bansa para masiguro ang mabilis na disaster response operations.
Ayon kay DSWD Assistant Secretary Juan Carlo Marquez, ang 981 warehouses ay matatagpuan a Luzon, Visayas, at Mindanao na tumutulong sa ahensya “in our prepositioning of relief supplies as well as in fast-tracking our disaster response and relief operations across the country.”
Ani Marquez, ang expansion ng mga warehouse ay nagresulta sa mas epektibong disaster response “with a number of DSWD Field Offices (FOs) even gaining commendation from the legislative branch with their swift action amid the onslaught of recent disasters.”
“During our budget hearing in Congress, our Central Luzon Regional Director Venus Rebuldela and NCR [National Capital Region] Regional Director Michael Joseph Lorico were respectively hailed by their congressmen due to their quick response at the height of Typhoon Carina,” anang opisyal.
Sa kasalukuyan, ang DSWD ay mayroong 12 hubs na nagsisilbing central storage facilities kasama ang tatlong National Resource Operations Centers sa Pasay City, Valenzuela City, at Paranaque City; at Visayas Disaster Resource Centers sa Mandaue City, Cebu.
Mayroon ding apat na DSWD FO 3-Central Luzon hubs sa Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, at Tarlac; at isang DSWD FO 11-Davao Region hub sa Pantukan, Davao de Oro.
Itinatayo pa ang isang hub sa Butuan City na aagapay naman sa buong Mindanao.
Bukod sa mga hub, mayroon din an DSWD na 75 spokes facilities sa buong bansa na ibinigay ng local government units (LGUs) sa mga lungsod maging sa mga first, second, at third class municipalities.
Mayroon din ang ahensya na 894 last mile warehouses sa buong bansa para sa mga geographically isolated at disadvantaged areas o hard-to-reach areas.
“These are the result of our commitment to tap on formalized partnerships with LGUs. In our agreements, they either let us rent their local facilities or use them for free,” ani Marquez. RNT/JGC
