MANILA, Philippines – Handa ang defense team ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa confirmation of charges hearing nito sa International Criminal Court (ICC) na gaganapin ngayong Lunes ng hapon, Pebrero 23.
“The defense only has to make an opening speech. In the afternoon, I anticipate the prosecution will begin its presentation of the evidence,” sinabi ni Atty. Nicholas Kaufman, counsel ni Duterte, sa panayam ng GMA News.
Batay sa iskedyul ng ICC, babasahin ng Pre-Trial Chamber I ang mga sakdal laban kay Duterte.
Kasunod nito ay babasahin ng ICC Prosecutors, common legal representative of the victims (CLRVs) at defense team ni Duterte ang kanilang opening statements.
Matapos nito ay ibibigay ng Prosekusyon ang subsmissions nito sa merito.
Ang susunod na mga pagdinig ay isasagawa sa Pebrero 24, 26, at 27.
“In the coming days, the prosecution will present their evidence and we will attack it. We will say why that evidence doesn’t show what the prosecution says it,” sinabi ni Kaufman.
“I don’t need too much input from the former president because I’m not going to be presenting his version of events, even if he could give me a version of events from recent times,” dagdag pa.
Sinampahan ng ICC Prosecutor si Duterte ng 49 incidents ng murder at attempted murder kaugnay sa kanyang anti-drug campaign “although the actual scale of victimization during the charged period was significantly greater.” RNT/JGC
