MANILA, Philippines – Inalis sa pwesto ang direktor ng Eastern Police District (EPD) at buong District Special Operations Unit (DSOU) kasabay ng isyu ng umano’y extortion at gross misconduct ng ilan sa mga tauhan nito, ayon sa Philippine National Police (PNP).
“When discipline collapses, it begins at the top. Leaders will be held to the highest standards of accountability… This is no longer just about rogue officers — it is a failure of leadership,” saad sa pahayag ni PNP Chief Police General Rommel Marbil nitong Sabado, Abril 5.
Idinagdag niya na pormal nang inihain ang criminal charges laban sa walong tauhan ng DSOU na may kinalaman sa insidente.
“Those involved must be summarily dismissed from the service and permanently disqualified from holding any position in government,” ani Marbil.
“If the director is found liable under the principle of command responsibility, he will never be trusted with any position of leadership again,” dagdag pa niya.
Nagbabala rin si Marbil sa mga police chief sa buong bansa na panatilihin ang disiplina at integridad sa kani-kanilang mga ranggo.
“The badge you wear is not a shield for abuse—it is a symbol of public trust. Betray that trust, and you will be removed, prosecuted, and punished to the fullest extent of the law,” anang opisyal.
Inatasan na ang Internal Affairs Service (IAS) at National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) na magsagawa ng masusing imbestigasyon at isulong ang administrative at criminal charges sa lahat ng sangkot dito.
Ang reklamo ay nag-ugat sa inilunsad na operasyon noong Abril 2 ng mga pulis ng EPD laban sa Chinese sa isang exclusive subdivision sa Las Pinas City.
Sa kabila nito, ang Las Piñas ay nasa ilalim ng hurisdiksyon ng Southern Police District (SPD) at hindi ng EPD.
Sinabi ni EPD chief Police Brigadier General Villamor Tuliao na hindi nakipag-ugnayan ang mga sangkot na pulis at walang suot na body camera sa operasyon.
Sa ulat, sinubukan umano ng mga pulis na kikilan ng P12 milyon ang Chinese kapalit ng kalayaan nito.
Iniulat pa na kumuha rin ang mga ito ng malaking halaga ng salapi, at iba pang gamit kabilang ang luxury watch mula sa biktima. RNT/JGC
