PRESIDENTIAL Adviser on Poverty Alleviation Larry Gadon has blasted lawyer Ferdinand Topacio for ‘simply riding on his popularity’ when the latter filed a contempt petition against him over his branding of the Supreme Court as lapdog of the ‘Dutertes.’
Gadon said it’s been an old style or gimmick of Topacio to create noise in order to attract clients as he was only “obviously riding on my popularity.”
The presidential anti-poverty adviser said that Topacio’s clients were made to believe that they had good defense with the latter because he’s noisy in public.
“Look at his clients – former president Rodrigo Duterte, Apollo Quiboloy, Alice Guo, Cassey Ong and ex-congressman Arnolfo Teves – they were all in jail. That’s how brilliant Topacio is,” Gadon said sarcastically.
Anticipating a ‘swift action’ of the high tribunal on Topacio’s petition, Gadon said he welcomed it as he vowed to use the opportunity to “further highlight the hypocrisy of the Supreme Court.”
“This will give me more chance and opportunity to highlight the hypocrisy of the Supreme Court for always penalizing me while Sara (Vice President Sara Duterte) who has committed a much worse offense of spewing expletives on the President, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez and prior to that when she inflicted a physical injury to a court sheriff in Davao City and yet the Supreme Court did not act to disbar or suspend her.”
“The case that they will file against me will only prove one thing. ‘Tuta talaga ng mga Duterte ang Supreme Court’ (Supreme Court is really a lapdog of the Dutertes),” he said.
The visibly-enraged Gadon even pointed at Senior Associate Justice Marvic Leonen whom he described as being an anti-Marcos “for letting an electoral protest of President Bongbong (Ferdinand) Marcos Jr. to rot in the dustbin for six years without resolving its motion for reconsideration.”
Moreover, Gadon expressed belief that Leonen wanted to get even with him for having his friend, ex-chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, removed.
“This is also another way of getting back at me for filing an impeachment against him in 2019.”
“The Supreme Court has turned into a lapdog going after a close ally of Marcos who helped turn around the minds of the people from all the disparaging propaganda against the Marcoses. Leonen is a rabid anti-Marcos,” added Gadon, a known long-time ‘Marcos’ loyalist.’
