MANILA, Philippines – Inalis na ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) ang gun ban sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) kasunod ng desisyon ng Korte Suprema na ipagpaliban ang BARMM Parliamentary Elections (BPE) sa susunod na taon.
Sa Comelec Minute Resolution No. 25-1055 na may petsang Oktubre 3, ipinag-utos ng en banc ang pag-aalis ng election-related prohibitions kaugnay sa ruling ng SC.
“Lift all election prohibitions, inclusive of the lifting of the prohibitions on the bearing, carrying, or transporting of firearms and other deadly weapons in the entire BARMM region including the City of Isabela in Basilan,” saad sa resolusyon.
Sinabi pa ng poll body na nakatakda nitong baguhin ang schedule of activities na may kaugnayan sa BPE.
“Modify the calendar of activities relating to the conduct of the BARMM Parliamentary Elections (which must be conducted not later than 31 March 2026) upon compliance by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority with the Supreme Court’s directive,” ayon sa Comelec. RNT/JGC
