MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ni Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, spokesperson para sa House prosecution panel, na tutugon ang prosekusyon sa anumang direktiba ng Senate impeachment court na maaaring ilabas kaugnay sa public engagements.
“Whatever directive the Senate impeachment court may issue tomorrow regarding interviews involving both the prosecution and defense, we will comply and adjust accordingly,” sinabi ni Adiong sa panayam ng DZBB.
Noong Miyerkules, sinabi ni presiding officer Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero na siya ay “drafting a ruling, warning, and order” kaugnay sa pattern na nakita ng clerk ofcourt kung saan ang social media posts ng mga abogado na nagrerepresenta “one side have crossed the line many, many times.”
Ito ay matapos batikusin ng defense team ni Duterte ang social media post ni private prosecutor Amando Virgil Ligutan, na nagkomento sa paggamit ng misleading questions sa impeachment trial.
Sa post kasi ni Ligutan ay sinabing: “A principle all lawyers and law students know by heart: Misleading questions are not allowed even on cross-examination.”
“Whatever side they may be on, if someone says or does something that violates the rules of the Senate impeachment court, they should be called out, especially when it comes to upholding the integrity of the court,” sinabi naman ni Adiong.
“The approach to maintaining the integrity of the impeachment court should not be selective,” dagdag niya. RNT/JGC
