MANILA, Philippines – Humiling ng pambansang panalangin si Lead Prosecutor at House Committee on Justice Chair Gerville Luistro para sa gaganaping impeachment trial laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte na magsisimula sa Hulyo 6.
“Join us as we pray for the conviction of the respondent in this impeachment trial,” ani Luistro sa ginanap na “Mass for Truth, Justice, and Accountability” sa Chapel of the Nativity ng Immaculate Conception Cathedral sa Cubao, Quezon City.
Pinasalamatan ni Luistro ang suporta ng Simbahan at hinikayat ang publiko na samahan sila hanggang sa matapos ang paglilitis sa Senado.
“Please walk with us. Please join us. Please be with us until the conclusion of this impeachment trial,” dagdag nito
Dumalo rin sa misa ang iba pang miyembro ng prosecution team kabilang sina Reps. Leila de Lima, Lorenz Defensor, Joel Chua, Ysabel Maria Zamora, at Kaka Bag-ao, kasama din ang mga private prosecutors na sina Lorna Kapunan at Marforth Fua.
Inamin ni Luistro ang mga kakulangan ng panel, ngunit binigyang-diin niyang malaking lakas ang ibinibigay ng dasal ng taumbayan.
“We acknowledge our limitations. We acknowledge our imperfections. We acknowledge all our insufficiencies. But let me tell you, my dear brothers and sisters, all your prayers overpower them. All your support overpower them. Ultimately, everybody’s love for the Philippine nation overpower kung ano man ang kulang sa mga prosecutors,” pahayag ni Luistro.
Nanawagan din ito na ipagdasal ang lahat ng panig na kasangkot sa makasaysayang paglilitis.
“Let us pray even for the defense team. Let us pray even for the senator-judges. Let us pray for the entire Philippine nation,” giit ni Luistro. “It is because we believe that Filipinos deserve better leaders. Filipinos deserve a better nation. Filipinos deserve a better republic.”
Ang misa ay pinangunahan ni Fr. Bong Sarabia, habang si Msgr. Mel David ng Parañaque ang naghatid ng homily. Kasama ring nag-misa sina Fr. Niño Etulle, Fr. Choi Gliponeo, Fr. Raul “Puti” Enriquez, at ang kompositor na si Fr. Manoling Francisco.
Inorganisa ang pagtitipon ng Clergy for Good Governance sa pamumuno ni Fr. Robert Reyes. Si Reyes, kasama sina Fr. Flavie Villanueva, Bong Sarabia, at Joel Saballa, ang ilan sa mga naghain ng ikatlong impeachment complaint na isinama sa Articles of Impeachment. Gail Mendoza
