MANILA, Philippines – Isinagawa ng Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) nitong Lunes, Disyembre 15 ang huling pagdinig nito ngayong taon sa maanonalyang flood control projects.
Inimbitahan sina AGAP Party-List Representative Nicanor Briones at Budget Acting Secretary Rolando Toledo bilang resource persons sa pagdinig.
Ayon kay Atty. Winston Ginez, legal counsel nito, ang pangalan at integridad ay lubhang nabahiran ng “baseless and unfounded accusations against him.”
“Considering the investigatory and fact-finding nature of the proceedings of this honorable commission, our client is concerned that the livestreaming of the proceeding of this commission may cause further harm and injury to his reputation,” aniya.
“He has no way of controlling how the public will misinterpret or misconstrue the highly sensitive personal information that he may convey,” dagdag pa nito.
Sinabi ni Ginez na humihiling sila ng executive session upang maiwasan ang trial by publicity.
Samantala, pinayagan naman ni Briones ang paglalabas ng kanyang sinumpaang salaysay at ipakita ito sa publiko.
Pinagbigyan naman ng ICI ang hiling ni Briones na executive session.
Nauna nang sinabi ni ICI spokesperson Brian Hosaka na target nilang imbitahan si resigned Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral.
Nang tanungin patungkol sa pagdalo ni Cabral, sinabi ni Hosaka na walang pang kumpirmasyon ng pagdalo mula rito. RNT/JGC
