MANILA, Philippines – Tuloy ang nakatakdang impeachment proceedings laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte, ayon kay House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III nitong Miyerkules.
Ginawa ni Dy ang pahayag matapos hindi maglabas ang Korte Suprema ng temporary restraining order (TRO) na magpapahinto sana sa pagpapatuloy ng pagdinig ng House justice committee na nakatakda sa Abril 14.
Gayunman, inatasan ng SC ang House justice committee na magsumite ng komento sa pinagsama-samang petisyon ni Duterte at ilang abogado.
“The House of Representatives welcomes the Supreme Court’s non-issuance of a temporary restraining order. We have the highest respect for the Court and its processes, and we defer to its authority on matters properly brought before it,” ani Dy.
“In the absence of any legal restraint, the House of Representatives will continue to discharge its constitutional mandate,” dagdag niya.
Ayon naman kay Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon, “There is no TRO vs. Duterte impeachment proceedings: See you on April 14.”
Sa petisyon ni Duterte, iginiit niya na unconstitutional ang ginagawang proseso ng House justice panel at wala itong kapangyarihang magsagawa ng “trial.” Aniya, ang pagpayag dito ay paglabag sa limitasyon ng kanilang tungkulin at pag-angkin sa kapangyarihan ng impeachment court na nasa Senado.
Sinabi rin ng Bise Presidente na walang “ultimate facts” sa mga reklamo at hindi umano saklaw ng kaso ang “legal conclusions o evidentiary facts.”
Tiniyak ni Dy na isasagawa ang impeachment proceedings nang naaayon sa Konstitusyon at alituntunin, sa isang patas, maayos, at batay sa ebidensyang proseso kung saan maririnig ang lahat ng panig.
“The proceedings are part of the constitutional process of accountability, guided by facts, evidence, and the rule of law. This reflects the proper balance among institutions, with each branch performing its role within the bounds of the Constitution,” ani Dy. RNT/MND
