Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) noong nakaraang linggo ay isang uri ng “political pressure” na layong pigilan ang executive branch ng pamahalaan, na pinamumunuan ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr., na gawin ang constitutional duties nito.
Ipinunto ni ENrile na tanging ang Pangulo lamang ang may awtoridad at responsibilidad na makipag-ugnayan sa legislative at judicial branches upang masiguro ang episyenteng operasyon ng pamahalaan.
“There is no question that the INC peace rally was a peaceful assembly. But were there grievances to be redressed? Pardon me for my impression—to me, there was none,” ani Enrile.
“To me, although it was well-intentioned, the peace rally was more like a political pressure to hinder a separate and independent department of the government from performing a constitutional duty. This was evident from the speeches delivered in that rally,” dagdag pa niya.
Nilinaw ni Enrile na hindi siya laban sa National Rally for Peace ng INC dahil kinikilala niyang ang lahat ay may karapatan sa mapayapang pagtitipon at pananawagan sa pamahalaan.
