MANILA, Philippines- Nasa Los Angeles, California na ang isa sa pitong opisyal ng Office of the Vice President (OVP) na iniuugnay sa maling paggamit ng OVP funds, ayon kay House committee secretary Sheryl Lagrosas.
“[Of]all the seven whom we requested travel records, only one fled the country. Atty. Zuleika Lopez entered the immigration gates of the airport last night at 7:31 p.m. to board (Philippine Airlines) flight PR102 from Manila to Los Angeles,” paliwanag ni Lagrosas.
Matatandaang unang humiling ang House committee on good governance sa Department of Justice na magpalabas ng lookout bulletin laban sa mga OVP officials.
Maliban kay Lopez, sinabi ni Manila Rep. Joel Chua, Chairman ng nasabing komite, na maaring sumunod pa ang ibang OVP officials kung hindi aaksyon agad ang DOJ.
Kabilang sa OVP officials na inisyuhan ng subpoena ay sina Assistant Chief of Staff and Bids and Awards Committee Chair Lemuel Ortonio, Administrative and Financial Services Director Rosalynne Sanchez, Special Disbursing Officer (SDO) Gina Acosta, Chief Accountant Juleita Villadelrey, dating Department of Education Assistant Secretary Sunshine Charry Fajarda at SDO Edward Fajarda.
Batay sa rekord, sina Ortonio, Sanchez, Villadelrey, Charry Fajarda at Edward Fajarda ay nanatiling nasa bansa subalit ang status ni Acosta ay hindi pa malinaw.
Ang OVP officials ay pinasasagot sa umano’y ilegal na paggamit ng pondo ng OVP batay na rin sa naging report ng Commission on Audit (COA). Gail Mendoza
