MANILA, Philippines- Inihayag ng Department of Budget and Management (DBM) nitong Martes na inaprubahan nito ang paglikha ng karagdagang regional offices at plantilla positions para sa National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC).
Base sa DBM, may kabuuang walong bagong regional offices ang inaprubahan, partikular sa Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Mimaropa (Mindoro Occidental, Mindoro Oriental, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, at Cordillera Administrative Region.
Nilalayon nitong palakasin ang NCSC, na kasabay ng paglagda sa expanded Centenarian Act noong February 26, 2024, batay sa DBM.
“The strengthening of the NCSC is another important step in the development of our country. Our elders are custodians of tradition and culture. Often, they are mediators of peace, mentors, and community leaders. They will always be valuable assets to our nation, so we really take good care of them,” pahayag ni budget secretary Mina Pangandaman.
Dahil dito, may kabuuang 96 posisyon ang nilikha ng DBM para sa inaprubahang regional offices.
“On the account of Section 11 of RA No. 11350, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has already transferred the program: Assistance to Older Persons [to NCSC] under the FY (fiscal year) 2024 General Appropriations Act,” pahayag ng DBM.
Binuo ang NCSC noong July 25, 2019, sa ilalim ng Republic Act No. 11350 upang isulong at pangasiwaan ang kolaborasyon sa pagitan ng stakeholders at senior citizens.
Target din nitong garantiyahin ang matagumpay na implementasyon ng mga programa at mga serbisyong tumututok sa pagsusulong ng kalusugan at kapakanan ng senior citizens.
Batay sa datos mula sa NCSC, sineserbisyuhan ng ahensya ang mahigit 9 milyong senior citizens sa buong bansa. RNT/SA
