MANILA, Philippines – Tuminta ng kasunduan ang Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), at National Irrigation Administration (NIA) na layong siguruhin na may sapat na rice supply chain.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ng DA na layon din ng memorandum of understanding na gumawa ng “alternative market” para sa bigas na magbibigay benepisyo sa mga magsasaka at mamimili.
Layon din ng kasunduan na tinintahan noong Pebrero 2, na palakasin ang Integrated Rice Supply Chain Development Program, isang proyekto na magsisiguro sa episyenteng supply chain, bumuo ng isang business-to-business online market platform, lumikha ng alternatibong market access para sa buyers at sellers, palakasin ang kita ng mga magsasaka, mag-promote ng tamang rice branding at classification, at gawing mas mura pa ang bigas sa mga mamimili.
“This MOU establishes a framework for collaboration in the development and implementation of a project that holds the promise of transforming our rice supply chain,” pahayag ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr.
Sa pagtutulungan sa produksyon, klasipikasyon, marketing at distribusyon ng lokal na bigas ay mas mapatataas umano ang status ng agricultural products sa global stage.
“Our aim is to enhance the income of our hardworking rice farmers through more efficient market and supply chain arrangements,” ani Laurel.
“We envision a future where our rice is not only of high quality but is also recognized and appreciated in the market,” dagdag pa niya. RNT/JGC
