MANILA, Philippines – Inaresto ang isang lalaki sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Naia) sa umano’y hindi pagdedeklara ng P1.2 milyon at US$580,000 cash na dala nito.
“The discovery was made during a routine X-ray screening of the passenger’s checked-in baggage bound for Hong Kong,” saad sa pahayag ng Bureau of Customs.
“Upon examination, bundles of cash concealed inside the luggage were uncovered, none of which had been declared, in violation of applicable laws,” dagdag pa ng Customs.
Hindi naman tinukoy ng ahensya ang pagkakakilanlan ng pasahero.
Sa kabila nito, posibleng maharap ang lalaki sa reklamong paglabag sa Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act; RA 7653 o New Central Bank Act; at RA 9160 o Anti-Money Laundering Act.
Maaari rin anilang lumabag ang pasahero sa Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas manual of regulations on foreign exchange transactions. RNT/JGC
