Kidnapping cases bumaba ng 31% – PNP

MANILA, Philippines- Bumaba ng 31 porsyento ang bilang ng kaso ng kidnapping sa bansa mula Enero hanggang Mayo ng kasalukuyang taon, base sa Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) nitong Huwebes.

Sa press briefing sa Camp Crame, sinabi ni AKG chief Brig. Gen. Cosme Abrenica na nakapagtala sila ng siyam na kidnapping cases sa nasabing panahon, mula sa 13 insidente sa parehong period noong nakaraang taon.

“For 2024, meron tayong only 18 cases ng kidnapping pero yung nine doon ay hoax kidnapping. So we are only working on these nine cases,” anang opisyal.

Inihayag ni Abrenica na wala silang naitalang casino-related kidnapping cases sa nabanggit na period.

“In the past, we encountered victims who lost money and are contacting their families abroad. They tell them they were kidnapped. Then the family will contact the embassy and the embassy will reach out to us. We would then hold a joint operation and fortunately, we are able to recover the victims safely,” dagdag niya.

Kabilang sa mga insidenteng ito ang anim na kidnap-for-ransom cases at tatlong kasong iniuugnay sa Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

Sa bilang na ito, dalawa na ang naresolba at tatlo ang “cleared” na habang apat naman ang iniimbestigahan pa.

Pahayag ni Abrenica, karamihan sa mga biktima ay Chinese nationals at naganap sa Metro Manila.

“We still have cases that are under investigation because it is difficult to quickly investigate kidnapping cases. We always do backtracking in solving these cases,” patuloy niya. RNT/SA
