MANILA, Philippines – May solusyon si dating Senador Panfilo “Ping” Lacson upang hindi na madaanan ng mga hindi awtorisadong sasakyan ang EDSA Busway.
Ani Lacson, patakbuhin ang mga bus sa busway sa pasalungat na direksyon.
Ang rekomendasyong ito ay kasunod ng ulat ng mga paglabag sa busway, kabilang na ang convoy ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
“EDSA BUSWAY: To prevent unauthorized vehicles from using the busway, MMDA [Metropolitan Manila Development Authority] may consider studying the infrastructure reconfiguration to reverse the direction of buses passing through the bus lanes and make the problem solve itself,” pahayag ni Lacson.
“Nobody wants a head-on collision,” giit pa niya.
Samantala, iginiit din ni Lacson na wala dapat na maging exempted sa pagbabawal na dumaan sa busway.
“Exempt yourself at your own risk,” ani Lacson.
Noong Martes ng gabi, nahuli ang convoy ng PNP na dumaan sa EDSA busway dahil sa umano’y pagmamadali na makadalo sa isang “emergency meeting.”
Agad naman na pinuna ng Palasyo ang ginawa ng PNP at sinabing ang “emergency” ay hindi dapat gamiting ‘excuse’ para sumuway sa panuntunan sa EDSA busway.
“If I’m not mistaken, there is a provision that allows them to use the busway in case of an emergency and if they are on duty,” ani Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary at Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said.
“But this must be properly verified,” dagdag niya.
“Before they use the busway, they must ensure that they are not misusing the privilege granted to them by simply invoking the word ’emergency.” RNT/JGC
