MANILA, Philippines – Kusang sumuko ang driver/bodyguard ng apat na Chinese nationals nitong Huwebes, Pebrero 1 kaugnay sa umano’y pagdukot ng mga pulis sa kanyang mga empleyado.
Sa pahayag, sinabi ni House Deputy Majority Leader Erwin Tulfo na ang lalaki, na kinilala bilang si Michael Novecio, ay personal na sumuko sa kongresista.
Ani Tulfo, sinabi ni Novecio na ginamit siya bilang informant ng ilang pulis mula sa Southern Police District-Detective and Special Operations Unit (SPD-DSOU) na hinihinalang nagkulong at nagnakaw pa sa mga biktima noong Setyembre 2023.
“For fear for his life, Novecio sought Tulfo’s help to surrender to Sta. Rosa, Laguna lawmaker Daniel Fernandez, chairperson of the House Committee on Public Order and Safety, currently investigating the case, in aid of legislation in Congress,” saad sa pahayag ng opisina ni Tulfo.
“He saw our inquiry on this the other day, that is why he turned himself in,” dagdag niya.
“He said he does not even know who is his real enemy, and that he is being chased by a group of Chinese individuals and the police.”
Inatasan na ni Fernandez si House Secretary General Reginald Velasco na bigyan ng proteksyon si Novecio makaraang paulit-ulit na hindi dumalo sa pagdinig.
Nagpasalamat naman si Fernandez sa tiwalang ibinigay ni Novecio sa Kongreso.
