MANILA, Philippines – Kinuwestyon ng health reform advocate na si Dr. Tony Leachon ang legalidad ng zero subsidy sa Philhealth sa 2025 National Budget.
Naghain si Leachon ng Petition for Certiorari and Prohibition para hamunin ang iginawad na zero subsidy sa PhilHealth dahil taliwas aniya ito sa mandato na itinatakda sa mga batas.
“This zero subsidy will set a dangerous precedent which will undermine the Filipinos’ right to health, and the mandate for the State to make health care accessible and inclusive and accessible even to paupers, that are guaranteed by no less than the Philippine Constitution,” ani Leachon.
Ang hindi aniya paglalaan ng pondo sa Philhealth ay parang pagpaparusa rito, para turuan ng leksyon ang liderato nito na si Emmanuel R. Ledesma, Jr.
“The Congress attempts to punish the members of the PhilHealth Board, but let the Filipino suffer the consequences of their decision. They want to teach PhilHealth lesson but at what cost? The Filipino people who relies on Philhealth to have access to healthcare? This is not governance! This is a betrayal of public trust!” dagdag ni Leachon.
Iginiit ni Leachon na hindi umano para sa kapakanan ng mamamayan ang ginawa ng gobyerno.
“The deprivation of adequate funding for health and education manifests regression taking the country further away from its progress in building an educated and healthy population capable of driving national development.
