MANILA, Philippines – Tinawag ng kampo ni Vice President Sara Duterte si National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag bilang “evidently politically biased” laban sa kanya kasabay ng imbestigasyon sa mga alegasyon ni dismissed policeman Rodulfo Gracioso Jr.
Ayon kay Atty. Paul Lawrence Lim, si Matibag ay “heavily burdened with a conflict of interest” sa pag-iimbestiga nito sa mga akusasyon ni Gracioso.
“As shown in the impeachment case, Director Matibag has previously written scathing opinion articles against the Vice President, and is evidently politically biased against her,” saad sa pahayag ni Lim.
“With respect, his current publicity on the progress of what is supposed to be a live investigation—showing support for Mr. Gracioso and implying guilt to the Vice President and her family, simultaneous with the impeachment trial—appears to confirm this bias,” dagdag pa niya.
Dahil dito, sinabi ng abogado ni Duterte na hindi dapat magamit ang NBI para sa partisan purposes at inaasahang gagawin ang trabaho ng propesyunal at apolitical.
