MANILA, Philippines- Ipinatawag ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang 24 registered owners ng mga truck na nahuling may gasgas na gulong sa pinaigting na operasyon ng ahensya sa buong bansa kasunod ng ilang kaso ng fatal road accidents.
Sinabi ni LTO chief, Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II na 24 may-ari ng “hindi ligtas” na mga truck ang inisyuhan ng Show Cause Order (SCO) at pinagpapaliwanag kung bakit hindi sila dapat parusahan sa pagbalewala sa road safety measures.
“We observed that there has been an utter disregard to the road safety by some erring truck owners. In our aggressive campaign, some of the common violations are worn-out tires which are really dangerous not only to the truck drivers but also to other road users,” ani Mendoza.
Tinutukoy ng opisyal ang serye ng operasyon na isinagawa mula nang maganap ang aksidente sa Katipunan Flyover kung saan apat na indibidwal ang nasawi habang 20 ang sugatan nang araruhin ng truck ang ilang mga sasakyan.
“We will not allow these erring truck owners to disregard the traffic rules and regulations,” dagdag niya.
“We would like to warn all truck drivers and operators to follow the law because what is at stake here is the life and limbs of all road users. They have to comply, otherwise, they will be in serious trouble when we apprehend them,” babala ni Mendoza. RNT/SA
