MANILA, Philippines – Tiniyak ni Batangas 1st District Rep. Leandro Leviste noong Huwebes, Peb. 5, na lalabas ang ebidensya ng kickbacks sa DPWH projects sa tamang oras, kahit pa siya ay lilipad sa ibang bansa.
Ayon kay Leviste, hindi niya gustong umalis, ngunit pinayuhan siya ng kanyang ina, si Sen. Loren Legarda, matapos umano siyang hilingin ng ilang kaalyado ng administrasyon na itigil muna ang paglalabas ng ebidensya.
“I do not want to go abroad. I asked the permission of Congress because some administration representatives appealed to my mother that I go abroad instead of me continuing to release evidence regarding the proponents of anomalous DPWH projects,” ani Leviste.
Dagdag niya, may hawak siyang video at dokumento na magpapatunay sa kickbacks na dati ring hawak ni dating DPWH Sec. Maria Catalina Cabral.
“More than the Cabral files, evidence that would show the acceptance of kickbacks are with me. I was advised that this is not the right time to release these. Even so, I have prepared videos so that whatever happens to me, the truth will come out,” ani Leviste.
Sinabi rin niya na hindi pa ngayon ang tamang oras dahil may mga tao pang makapagsasabi at makakapagtibay ng ebidensya.
“I have been advised that now is not the right time because others have not spoken out who would corroborate the evidence,” dagdag niya.
Pinayuhan ni Leviste na suportahan ng publiko ang mga whistleblower mula sa kasalukuyan at dating opisyal ng gabinete para maging ligtas silang magsalita.
“I hope no more witnesses will be found dead or fall off a cliff to silence them. But if this happens, it would be good to leave some files, affidavit, or recordings to trustworthy people, so that the truth would not be buried,” ani Leviste.
Si Leviste ay isa sa mga kontrobersyal na baguhang mambabatas ng 20th Congress, na nag-ugat sa paglantad ng umano’y katiwalian sa DPWH bago at matapos makuha ang dokumento mula kay Cabral. RNT/MND
