MANILA, Philippines – Sinabi ng Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) nitong Sabado, Agosto 3, na ligtas ang mga Filipino sa Bangladesh sa kabila ng nagpapatuloy na civil unrest sa naturang bansa.
“So far, safe and sound mga around 700 Filipinos. Some of them are in the hotel sector. They are safe and sound at this stage, and we hope it stays that way,” pahayag ni Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac.
Matatandaan na inilagay ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) ang Bangladesh sa Crisis Alert Level 1 (Precautionary Phase) kasunod ng mga pinakahuling political demonstrations at civil unrest.
Ani Cacdac, mahigpit na nakikipag-ugnayan ang DMW sa Philippine Embassy sa Bangladesh.
“Next stage is now getting the pulse of the Filipino community in Bangladesh, in Dhaka, and finding out whether there is a wish for them or some of them to come home, and that can be arranged definitely in partnership with the DFA,” aniya.
Wala rin umano sa mga Filipino sa Bangladesh ang gusto nang magpauwi sa Pilipinas.
“[But] that will unfold in the coming days,” sinabi ni Cacdac.
“The first order of priority is to ensure their safety and well-being. We are to check-mark them.” RNT/JGC
