MANILA, Philippines- Magpapatupad ang Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) ng traffic adjustments upang ibsan ang hirap ng libo-libong motorista na maaapektuhan ng anim na buwang pagsasara ng southbound lane ng EDSA-Kamuning flyover.
Bahagi nito, ayon kay MMDA acting chairman Don Artes, ang pagbabawal sa motorcycle riders na dumaan sa EDSA-Kamuning service road simula sa Biyernes, Mayo 3.
Sa halip, sinabi ng opisyal na gagabayan ang motorcycle riders na dumaan sa mga alternatibong ruta tulad ng Scout Borromeo, Panay Avenue, Mother Ignacia Avenue, at Scout Albano.
“This move is to lessen the traffic on Kamuning service road. All vehicles, including motorcycles, are urged to use the alternate routes,” ani Artes sa isang panayam matapos ang inspeksyon sa epekto ng pagsasara ng southbound lane ng flyover na umarangkada noong Mayo 1.
Batay sa datos mula sa MMDA Traffic Engineering Center makikita na 24,000 four-wheeled vehicles at 23,000 motorsiklo ang dumaraan sa southbound lanes ng flyover kada araw..
“Additional traffic enforcers will also be deployed to better manage and guide passing motorists and other road users. More directional and traffic signages will also be installed to guide them along identified alternate routes,” dagdag niya.
Ihihirit din umano ni Artes sa Department of Transportation (DOTr) na magamit ng Edsa carousel buses ang service road mula alas-11 p.m. upang matiyak na hindi maaantala ang retrofitting works sa flyover.
Aniya pa, makikipag-ugnayan sila sa Quezon City local government para sa patuloy na pagpapaigting ng clearing operations sa Mabuhay Lanes at sa kahabaan ng iba pang natukoy na alternate routes upang matiyak na madaraanan ang mga ito.
“Barangay officials will help in clearing alternate routes and ensuring smooth traffic flow in the area,” wika ni Artes.
Nilalayon ng pagsasara ng southbound lane ng EDSA-KAmuning flyover na pagtibayin ang flyover upang ihanda ito sa potensyal na mga lindol, o the “Big One.” RNT/SA
