BACOLOD CITY- Nagbuga ng abo ang Mt. Kanlaon nitong Linggo ng hapon.
Sinabi ni Mari-Andylene Quintia, resident volcanologist sa Mt. Kanlaon Observatory na naobserbahan ang “ashing” event ng alas-4:36 ng hapon at wala pang natanggap na ulat ng ash fall sa residential areas.
“It is not an eruption event. Our concern is the ash fall,” dagdag ni Quintia.
Inihayag ng Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) na wala ring naitalang “seismic or infrasound signals.”
“The events generated gray plumes that rose 300 meters above the crater before drifting southwest, as recorded by the Canlaon City Observation station IP Camera,” dagdag nito.
Iniulat ng Phivolcs ang 14 volcanic earthquakes sa Mt. Kanlaon at anim na ashing events mula alas-12 ng hatinggabi ng Sabado hanggang alas-12 ng hatinggabi ng Linggo.
Nagbuga rin ang Kanlaon ng 4,171 tons ng sulfur dioxide noong Sabado.
Nananatili ang Kanlaon sa ilalim ng Alert Level 1 (increased unrest) at posibleng magkaroon ng sudden steam-driven p phreatic eruptions, babala ng Phivolcs. RNT/SA
