Manila, Philippines – Tiniyak ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) na paiigtingin nito ang Responsableng Panonood (RP) Program, lalo na sa mga guro at magulang, sa kabila ng malagim na pamamaril sa isang paaralan sa Zamboanga City.
Sabi ni MTRCB Chairperson at CEO Lala Sotto, itinuturo ang responsible viewing habits sa mga magulang at bata sa ilalim ng RP Program, maliban sa maingat na paggamit ng social media, online platforms, streaming services at iba pang uri ng digital content.
“We join the nation in mourning the loss of young lives in this heartbreaking incident. Our sincerest thoughts and prayers are with their families, classmates, teachers and the entire Ateneo de Zamboanga community,” sabi ni Sotto.
“We support President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for stronger measures to keep our children safe, online and offline. Through the MTRCB’s Responsableng Panonood Program, we aim to help them understand the content they see on television and on online platforms, so that they know how to protect their safety and wellbeing,” dagdag niya.
Paliwanag ni Sotto, shared responsibility ng mga pamilya, paaralan, komunidad, mga ahensiya ng gobyerno at digital platforms na pangalagaan ang mga kabataan mula sa harmful online content.
Sa Agosto 24, tutungo ang RP Program sa Naga City, Camarines Sur kung saan makikipag-ugnayan ang MTRCB sa mga magulang, guro, mag-aaral, lokal na opisyal at iba pang stakeholder sa komunidad upang isulong ang responsible viewing at media literacy initiative ng Ahensiya.
Itinutulak nito ang active parental supervision at guidance, age-appropriate viewing, kritikal na pag-iisip, online safety, pati na ang responsableng paglikha at pag-share ng digital content.
Para sa taong 2026, nagsagawa ng RP activities ang MTRCB sa walong iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa. Ito ay para sa mga magulang, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) na may mga iniwang pamilya, mga mag-aaral, guro at mga local government unit (LGU).
Sabi ni Sotto, hinihikayat ng RP Program ang mga magulang at guardian na kilalanin ang mga applications at platforms na gamit ng kanilang mga anak at talakayin ang mga online activities ng mga bata.
Pinapaalalahan din ang mga magulang na magtakda ng makatwirang boundaries sa screen time at maging mapagmatyag sa mga pag-uugali ng kanilang mga anak na maaaring maging indikasyon na sila ay nakapanood ng harmful o distressing content.
“Responsible viewing does not end with checking age ratings or sitting beside our children as they watch TV or movies. More importantly, it includes knowing what our children watch, whom they interact with and what they create and share online,” sabi ni Sotto.
Sinuportahan din ng MTRCB ang panawagan ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) sa mga media outlet na maging maingat at responsable sa kanilang pag-uulat sa school shooting sa Zamboanga City.
Sabi ng Ahensiya, patuloy itong nakikipag-ugnayan sa mga paaralan, LGU, parents’ organizations at iba pang stakeholders upang dalhin ang RP Program sa mas maraming komunindad.
“Protecting our children requires not just a whole-of-government, but a whole-of-community effort. Through Responsableng Panonood, we shall empower more Filipino families to become more critical, compassionate and responsible users of all forms of media,” dagdag ni Sotto. JP Ignacio
