MANILA, Philippines- Inihayag ng Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) nitong Martes na wala sa ilalim ng hurisdiksyon nito ang streaming-based content kasunod ng privilege speech ni Sen. Jinggoy Estrada kung saan sinita nito ang Vivamax o VMX dahil sa “pornographic” material, na kabilang sa iba pang mga isyu.
“Currently, online curated content does not fall within the MTRCB’s mandate. This is why we are grateful to the entire Senate for supporting amendments to the MTRCB charter to expand our scope,” pahayag ni MTRCB chairperson Lala Sotto.
Nitong Lunes, biantikos ni Estrada ang streaming service VMX (dating Vivamax) sa pagpapakita ng aniya’y pornographic material at umano’y pananamantala sa performers nito na nakatatanggap umano ng mababang sahod.
“We share Senator Jinggoy Estrada’s concerns that we need to protect our viewers, especially children in this digital age. As one of its proactive steps, the MTRCB called the attention of subscription-based platforms and encouraged them to observe our standards,” wika ni Sotto.
“Rest assured that the MTRCB is doing its best despite the limitations of its current powers under PD 1986,” dagdag ni Sotto, tinutukoy ang Presidential Decree 1986 na lumikha sa MTRCB.
Noong Setyembre, nagmungkahi ang MTRCB ng kooperasyon sa online streaming platforms upang matiyak ang proteksyon at feedback mechanism. RNT/SA
