MANILA, Philippines – Hangad ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. sa kanyang state visit sa India na magresulta ng mas murang medisina para sa mga pinoy, bukod sa iba pa.
“I want this visit to bring concrete benefits for the Filipino people, such as more affordable medicine and greater connectivity and food security,” ang sinabi ni Pangulong Marcos sa kanyang departure speech.
“It is incumbent upon us, now more than ever, to maximize the opportunities in trade and investment with the world’s fourth largest economy,” aniya pa rin.
Sa kabilang dako, tatayong caretakers naman habang wala ang Pangulo sina Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, Agrarian Reform Secretary Conrad Estrella III, at Education Secretary Sonny Angara.
Winika ng Pangulo na kasama niya sa kanyang byahe sa India ang ilang miyembro ng kanyang gabinete para tiyakin ang kanyang vision na “a close strategic relationship with India is turned into a reality as quickly as possible as we make our commitments at the highest levels of government and business.”
Ayon sa Pangulo, maraming potensyal para sa kooperasyon kasama ang India na parehong mapakikinabangan ng mga mamamayan ng dalawang bansa.
“We intend to explore these potentials by charting a plan of cooperation across a broad spectrum of shared interests: from defense, trade, and investment, to health and pharmaceuticals, connectivity, agriculture, tourism, and many others,” ani Pangulong Marcos.
Sa kanyang pagdating sa New Delhi, kaagad na tutuloy si Pangulong Marcos sa meet and greet kasama ang Filipino community.
Maliban sa pakikipagpulong sa Indian leaders, partikular na kay Prime Minister Narendra Modi, makikipagpulong din ang Pangulo sa business sector ng India.
Samantala, marami na aniyang multinational Indian firms ang nago-operate sa bansa. /Kris Jose
