NAIA bilang sunod na BGC iminungkahi ng DFA chief

MANILA, Philippines- Pinalutang ni Finance Secretary Ralph Recto ang posibilidad na gawing business district ang 600-hectare Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) complex kapag natapos na ang bagong paliparang itinatayo sa Bulacan.

Sa sidelines ng Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines (EJAP) 2024 Board of Directors induction nitong Huwebes ng gabi, inihayag ni Recto ang ideya ng pagbebenta ng land housing na NAIA complex, kung saan maaaring kumita ang pamahalaan ng halos P6 trilyon.

“That’s 600 hectares… at a million [pesos] per square meter so it’s P6 trillion,” pahayag ng Finance chief.

“Then that becomes something like a new BGC. How many jobs will be created? We will have a new BGC in that area whether we do it now… that’s gonna happen anyway ‘pag natapos ‘yung Bulacan airport [once the Bulacan airport is finished, will we need both of them? Why not convert that into something like BGC,” dagdag ng opisyal.

Subalit, inamin ng chief economic manager ng Marcos administration na hindi agad ito maisasakatuparan.

“I’m not saying we do this next year… maybe at the end of 15 years nandiyan ang kontrata then natapos ang Bulacan [airport]. We have to start thinking about stuff like that,” wika ng Finance chief.

Tinutukoy ni Recto ang 15-taong concession deal na nakuha ng San Miguel-led New NAIA Infra Corporation upang pangasiwaan, panatilihin, at ayusin ang Manila airport.
