NAVOTAS: FLOOD FIGHT UPGRADED

NAVOTAS continues to strengthen its flood resilience and community facilities as Mayor John Rey Tiangco and Representative Toby Tiangco led the blessing and inauguration of three pumping stations and a school covered court.

It now operates 87 strategically located pumping stations across the city.

The new pumping stations are located in Barangay Tanza, Barangay Sipac-Almacen and Barangay Bagumbayan South.

Meanwhile, the Tiangco brothers also inaugurated a new covered court at Dagat-dagatan Elementary School.

“We are building not just structures but stronger foundations for a safer and more progressive Navotas. These additional pumping stations will significantly reduce flood risks, safeguarding lives and livelihoods, especially during high tide and typhoon season,” the mayor said.

He also highlighted the importance of the newly built school facility.

“Education must continue, rain or shine. This covered court will provide students with protection from extreme heat and heavy rains, allowing them to focus on their school activities without disruption.”

Rep. Tiangco emphasized the important role of the community in ensuring the city’s flood control initiatives remain effective.

“Our pumping stations are powerful tools against flooding, but their effectiveness depends on all of us. Proper waste disposal and environmental responsibility are key to keeping them functioning optimally. Taking care of Navotas is a shared duty—let’s do our part to keep our city clean, safe, and flood-free,” he said.

Digital Programs for service delivery0

Rep. Tiangco, House Committee on Information and Communications Technology chairman, welcomed the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s digital initiatives aimed at improving its service delivery.

DSWD’s newly launched online donation platform and its one-stop-shop online system is in line with President Marcos’ directive to utilize technology to make government services more accessible.

“We appreciate DSWD’s commitment to President Marcos’ vision. We hope other government agencies follow suit, as the growing demand for online government services underscores the critical role of digital ecosystems in efficient service delivery,” Tiangco said.

Tiangco said digitalization, combined with the government’s streamlining efforts, has significantly boosted efficiency in government processes.
