WITH the opening of the state-of-the-art, six-story San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital – now a Level-2 general hospital – Malabon City constituents, especially those at the poor sector are the real winners.
This as the SLRGH, which used to be a tiny municipal hospital then a women’s hospital until its total transformation into a general hospital, would now cater to specialized or departmentalized services on general medicines, pediatrics, surgery and obstetrics & gynecology as well as anesthesiology aside from its basic services like surgical and maternity and laboratory and pharmacy services.
“With the inauguration of the San Lorenzo Ruiz General Hospital, we’ve welcomed a new chapter in Malabon’s healthcare system as it is expected to provide better health services to more Malabueños.”
“From a modest 10-bed Level 1 hospital, it has now transformed into a 200-bed modern general hospital—proof of Malabon’s continuous investment in healthcare,” Mayor Jeannie Sandoval added.
City Administrator Alexander Rosete said the SLRGH, located in Barangay Panghulo, now boasts of a major upgrade that would allow it to accommodate more patients, especially those from the city’s poor sector.
Equipped with modern facilities such as operating rooms, a labor room, an intensive care unit, a surgery consultation room, an emergency room, and a spacious lobby, the SLRGH would ensure that Malabueños would have access to comprehensive and quality healthcare, CA Rosete said.
In 2019, then congressman Ricky Sandoval, now the city’s First Gentleman being the mayor’s husband and is also known as the Father of Malabon Cityhood for his bill that’s made into law that converted the town into a city, authored Republic Act 11289, the SLRGH Law.
He’s extra elated that a plan before is now a reality as he’s thankful to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa for ensuring the availability of funds to build the modern hospital without delay.
SLRGH medical center chief Marilou Nery said the hospital features modern equipment, including machines for colposcopy, MRI, CT scan, 2D echo, ultrasound, therapy, x-ray, a clinical laboratory, and other services.
Also, SLRGH will soon have a fully digital fluoroscopy machine, a fully digital C-arm machine, and a hystero-laparoscopy tower and instruments, among others, Nery said.
SLRGH has likewise earned national recognition such as being a PhilHealth-accredited center for quality hospital, an ISO 9001:2015 Certified Government Hospital, and a Red Orchid Hall of Famer Awardee.
