MANILA, Philippines – Binigyang-diin ni Bishop Emeritus Antonio Tobias D.D. ng Diocese of Novaliches noong Miyerkules na ang mass resignation ng mga nangungunang opisyal ng bansa, simula kay Pangulong Marcos, ay maaaring magbukas ng pagkakataon para sa “opportunists.”
Ito ay sinabi niya sa isang thanksgiving mass sa House of Representatives.
“I am one with my brother bishops in their general call for the resignation of all officials—from the President to the Vice President down to the last senator and congressman,” sabi ni Tobias. “But I join my brother bishops in cautioning it is… dangerous… for it may open the way to opportunists for government grab. It’s dangerous talaga. Hindi ba?”
Hinimok ni Tobias ang mga opisyal na sundin ang payo ng mga eksperto sa Konstitusyon at batas, at binanggit si House Deputy Minority Leader Leila de Lima bilang isa sa mga eksperto.
Nagpasalamat si De Lima sa bishop, at sinabi, “We also thank him and all our other Church leaders for leading the call for transparency and accountability in our government.” RNT
