CEBU, Philippines – Ipinasara ng Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ang isang malaking online selling operation sa Cebu City at Mandaue City dahil sa umano’y hindi pagdeklara ng higit P211 milyon na benta.
Ayon sa BIR, ipinatupad ang closure noong Marso 12 sa ilalim ng Oplan Kandado program matapos makakuha ng impormasyon tungkol sa seller na nagbebenta ng luxury goods sa Facebook Live at iba pang digital platforms nang walang resibo at tamang rehistro.
Pinag-aralan ng imbestigasyon ng BIR at NBI-Central Visayas ang negosyo sa Jamestown, Mabini Street sa Mandaue City, at Barangay Pahina Central sa Cebu City. Lumabas sa records na kumita ang seller ng higit P211 milyon, kaya’t tinantiya ang minimum tax liability na P40.4 milyon kasama ang penalties at surcharges.
Hindi pa natatagpuan ang indibidwal na responsable sa operasyon, at inihahanda na ng BIR ang pormal na tax assessment at posibleng kriminal na kaso sa ilalim ng Run After Tax Evaders (RATE) program.
