MANILA, Philuppines — Nasamsam at nadiskubre ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang limang unclaimed inbound parcels na naglalaman ng ilegal na droga na tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng P21.4 milyon sa Central Mail Exchange Center sa Pasay City.
Ayon sa BOC, nadiskubre ang mga parcels noong Disyembre 15, na idineklara bilang iba’t ibang consumer items tulad ng outdoor wall lamp, bag, digital media discs, merchandise, at libro, matapos magpakita ng kahina-hinalang senyales.
Lumabas sa inspeksyon na naglalaman ang mga ito ng 2,928 gramo ng shabu na may estimated value na P19,910,400 at 997 gramo ng high-grade marijuana (kush) na nagkakahalaga ng P1,495,500.
Inilipat na ang mga nasabat na droga sa Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) para sa karampatang disposisyon at karagdagang imbestigasyon.
Ang kaso ay bumabagsak sa paglabag sa Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) at Republic Act 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).
Pinuri ni BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno ang pagiging bigilante ng BOC-NAIA personnel.
